Zoning Board approves Hitchiner development February 17, 2021LITTLETON — Last week, the Littleton Zoning Board unanimously approved a variance request to develop upscale housing at the historic Hitchiner property on Beacon Street. Because the location was zoned industrial, a variance was required to create multi-family housing units. However, the building itself pre-dates the existence of Littleton zoning laws. According to Zoning Board Chair David Rochefort, board approval was unanimous. He said, "The plans presented by developer Al Croteau was well thought out and fit both the immediate area and the community. We are excited about the project." Approximately 124 studio and one-bedroom apartments will consume 103,000 of the 140,000 square foot structure. The remaining 37,000 square feet, spread over eight interconnected buildings, are slated for commercial purposes such as storage and retail.
