Zydeco Capital Jam was held today with awarding-winning accordion player and last updated 2021-07-11 03:46:53-04 Award-winning accordion player and teacher Kaleb LeDay was leading the show at the St. Landry Parish Visitor Center this afternoon. The 21-year-old was the first place grand prize winner at a state wide accordion contest called The Big Squeeze, they say. Leday is an accounting major at McNeese State University where he is also a member of the school's student band, Zyde-Pokes. "It wasn't until I watched a video film of playing guitar with a band; I saw the accordion player and it looked interesting and easier than a guitar. I asked my mom for one for Christmas, and she said, oh you not going to learn it, and I promised her I was going to. Here we are now, I learned how to play it," Leday told KATC.
