The small meteor that came crashing towards our planet in late February is an extremely rare type known as a carbonaceous chondrite - a rock that contains the ingredients for life. It is the first of its kind to ever be found in the UK after it landed in a driveway in the Cotswold town of Winchcombe. UK scientists and meteor experts have recovered pieces of a rare meteorite, just days after it entered Earth’s atmosphere and streaked across the sky. Researchers are ecstatic. “Normally we have to send spacecraft to collect bits of other worlds, but this time one has fallen right into our laps!” one said.
