Nation 'moving forward' as infections drop: Foreign Office

ISLAMABAD: As Covid-19 cases drop to the lowest since the beginning of the pandemic’s third wave, the Foreign Office said on Sunday it was heartening to see Pakistan moving forward in its anti-Covid fight, however, the country recorded 76 deaths and 1,629 positive cases during the last 24 hours.
Foreign Office Spokesman Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri wrote on Twitter that due to effective policies and timely interventions, the Covid-19 positivity ratio in Pakistan dropped to 3.1 per cent lowest since the beginning of current wave of the pandemic. He said the total active cases in the country were down to 47,764. “Heartening to see Pakistan Moving Forward in its fight against the pandemic,” the spokesman remarked. ....

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Saturday expressed serious concern over illegal possession of a large quantity of uranium by two unauthorised persons in India and pointed to gaps in state control mechanisms there.
“We have noted with serious concern the reports about seizure of more than 7kg natural uranium from unauthorised persons in India,” Foreign Office Spokesman Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri said.
Indian authorities had on Wednesday seized 7.1kg of natural uranium and arrested two persons Jigar Pandya, 27, and Abu Tahir Afzal Husain Choudhary, 31 in Nagpur. The seized uranium is worth $2.9 million. ....
