Police - strongly denies allegations of discrimination against female police officers

The Police Headquarters issued a statement stating that it strongly denies allegations that the Sri Lanka Police discriminates against female officers.
The Police Headquarters has issued the statement in response to reports that the rights of women police officers have been violated and that some officers have been subjected to discrimination.
Former SSP Bimshani Jasin Arachchi was promoted to the post of DIG by the Police Commission last year and 32 senior SSPs including former police spokespersons Ruwan Gunasekara and Jaliya Senaratne filed a fundamental rights petition in the Supreme Court.
They had stated that Bimshani Jasin Arachchi has been appointed to a post which is not available for the women cadre in the approved number of employees in the police service. ....
