Date Time HKU achieves encouraging results in Research Assessment Exercise 2020 The University of Hong Kong (HKU) is pleased to receive encouraging results of the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 2020 announced today (May 24) by the University Grants Committee (UGC) in which 75% of the research done by HKU’s 945 eligible staff (the largest number among all institutions) is rated as world-leading or internationally excellent. HKU has the highest proportion of research scoring 4 stars, i.e. of world-leading quality, by Panel and by Unit of Assessment. Out of a total of 13 broad panel areas assessed, HKU is rated the best in 6 areas, namely Biology, Health Sciences, Computer Science/Information Technology, Law, Humanities, and Education. Of the 37 disciplines (Unit of Assessment) in which HKU was assessed, HKU has the highest percentage of 4 stars ratings in 18 of them.

Date Time PolyU achieves high ratings in Research Assessment Exercise 2020 The University Grants Committee (UGC) announced today (May 24) the results of the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 2020, in which PolyU received high ratings in various research areas. PolyU is delighted to see the encouraging results and believes that they are a recognition of the University’s dedicated efforts in pursuing research excellence over the years. A total of 686 PolyU academic staff submitted a total of 2,611 research outputs, 50 impact case studies and 20 research environment submissions in the RAE 2020. Of the 11 panels in which PolyU was rated as “world-leading” (4-star) and “internationally excellent” (3-star), PolyU’s performance in the panel of Physical Sciences was the best among all UGC-funded institutions. Date Time HKUST and TFAHK Partner to Nurture FinTech Talent The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today with Tencent Finance Academy (Hong Kong) (TFAHK) to nurture FinTech talent. HKUST and TFAHK representatives sign an MoU on nurturing FinTech talent. Leveraging HKUST’s outstanding academic foundation in FinTech and Tencent’s practical industry experience, the MoU – witnessed by representatives from the HKSAR Government, HKUST and TFAHK – aims to establish a strategic partnership in fostering the development of FinTech by nurturing talents and collaborating on education and research and development projects.
