Snap to cut emissions, achieves carbon neutrality in new climate strategy Reuters 2 hrs ago
May 17 (Reuters) - Snap Inc on Monday announced a climate strategy to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions, purchase 100% renewable energy and remain carbon neutral after offsetting emissions dating back to its launch.
The plan, which the owner of photo messaging app Snapchat detailed in its annual CitizenSnap report on social and environmental initiatives, comes as climate change debates include tech companies and the energy-intensive process of running powerful computer data servers has become better known.
By making the company more energy efficient, Snap could not only reduce costs in the long run, but also appeal to its mostly young user base, which is passionate about addressing climate change, said Dom Perella, Snap s deputy general counsel and chief compliance officer.

SHANGHAI, April 28 (Reuters) - Global securities index publisher MSCI Inc on Wednesday said it has launched 20 thematic indexes to help domestic and international investors bet on megatrends in China that are aligned with the Chinese government’s strategic policy goals.
MSCI said it designed its first suite of country-specific thematic indexes to better enable investors to capitalise on long-term, structural change in technology, the environment, society and lifestyle in the world’s second-biggest economy.
The launch comes after Beijing in March formalised its 14th five-year plan focusing on high-quality, sustainable development, as the economy continues its shift toward reliance on domestic consumption and innovation and away from exports.

Snapchat adds more users than expected as improved app takes hold
(Reuters) - Snap Inc on Thursday beat Wall Street estimates for user growth and revenue as the improved Android version of its popular messaging app Snapchat attracted more users, but growth slowed within North America.
Shares of Snap rose 3.5% in trading after the bell.
Daily active users, a metric closely watched by investors and advertisers, rose 22% year-over-year to 280 million in the first quarter. Analysts had expected 275.3 million, according to IBES data from Refinitiv.
Most of the user growth continued to come from outside North America, rising 57% from the prior-year quarter.
