Stop & Shop Raises Record-Breaking $3.1 Million During Its Annual ’Help Cure Childhood .

QUINCY, Mass., May 05, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) Stop & Shop today announced that its annual ‘Help Cure Childhood Cancer’ campaign raised a record-breaking $3.1 million for pediatric cancer research and care at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Stop & Shop will donate additional funding to the campaign, bringing the total donation to the hospitals to $4.25 million.
The campaign, which ran throughout the month of March, allowed customers to round-up their purchases to the nearest dollar or donate an additional $1, $3 or $5 when shopping in store and online. Stop & Shop today announced the start of its annual Help Cure Childhood Cancer campaign to support Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund in Massachusetts and MSK Kids, the Pediatrics Program at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Since the campaign s inception decades ago, Stop & Shop and its customers have contributed more than $100 million to these two hospitals, allowing them to make significant advancements in pediatric cancer research and care.

A 5-year-old cancer survivor from Westchester is hoping to serve as an inspiration for other kids.
Cassidy Kline, of Larchmont, was only 3 years old when she underwent 15 months of intense chemotherapy to fight back against a sarcoma that started as a bump on her arm. She woke up in the middle of the night with pain and a hard lump on her left arm, and we weren t sure what happened, says Janine Kline, Cassidy s mother. Three weeks later, after a biopsy and several tests, they told us that she had cancer. Stage 4 rhabdomyosarcoma. So, it went from taking her to a follow up doctor appointment to being hospitalized for three weeks.

STATEN ISLAND N.Y. –– Tuesday was a special day for Rocco DiMaggio, a 3-year-old Staten Island cancer survivor.
Rocco is the face of a Stop & Shop fundraising campaign to support pediatric cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK), where Rocco receives treatments. Some initiatives the campaign supports includes the development of cell-based therapies and other innovative treatments.
