The students in this collection of stories by the Initiative for Creative African Narratives (iCAN, a project within the Academy for Multilingualism at the University of the Free State in South Africa) have refused to be silenced amid this pandemic. All come from rural villages or low income, highly populated settlements on the edge of metropolitan areas (also known as townships ).
