Germany once again achieved the highest rank in the latest edition of UNIDO’s Competitive Industrial Performance (CIP) Index.  China has climbed three positions in the last six years and currently ranks in second place. The Republic of Korea completes the top three in the ranking, which in its 2020 edition compares a total of 152 economies. This year’s report includes a separate chapter on African economies and their industrial competitiveness.

Modern Diplomacy, the Competitive Industrial Performance (CIP) Report 2020, published by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), provides a global overview of the competitiveness of countries’ industrial performance around the world. The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) has signed a five-year €172 million Programme for Country Partnership (PCP) to advance Egypt’s inclusive and sustainable industrialisation. Building on UNIDO s long-standing technical cooperation activities, the PCP will support Egypt’s transformation in line with the country’s national policies and development strategies as well as the UN Partnership Development Framework for Egypt and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The PCP was signed by UNIDO director general Li Yong and Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.
“By combining UNIDO’s advisory and normative services, its technical assistance and its convening function, the PCP will support the efforts of the Government of Egypt in achieving its industrial development go ....
