Health Department outlines vaccination plans moving forward

PEORIA, Ill. The Peoria City/County Health Department announced Thursday it expects Tier 1B vaccinations to begin next week.
Tier 1B includes individuals 65 years and older, as well as frontline essential workers and individuals with comorbid conditions, according to Public Health Administrator Monica Hendrickson and UnityPoint Health Chief Medical Officer Dr. Samer Sader.
According to Dr. Sader, illnesses that qualify as comorbidities are the ones that put individuals more at risk. These include diabetes, COPD, chronic lung disease and any illnesses that affects the immune system.
“When we are talking about frontline essential workers, we are talking about a broad category,” said Hendrickson. ....

Front-Line Medical Workers Receive First COVID-19 Vaccinations in Sioux City, IA

Sioux City’s two hospitals received their first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine today.
This is audio from a live stream from Siouxland News KMEG 14-FOX 44 television on Facebook this afternoon of two veteran front-line health care workers getting their shots at MercyOne.
Nurse, Mary Jones and the Medical Director for Emergency Medicine Siouxland Dr. Joe Liewer were the first two to get their shots. Both have worked for more than 25 years at the hospital.
