Remembering the life and career of I M Pei

I.M. Pei, best-known for designing the glass pyramid at the Louvre in Paris, died from unreported causes on May 15, 2019, according to his son, Chien Chung Pei. He was 102. The Chinese-American architect is renowned throughout the world for his work in designing icons like the East Building of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. in 1978 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, Ohio in 1995. He received numerous awards, including the highest civilian honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, in 1992.
