Larsen & Toubro wins 'large' contracts in power transmission segment

Engineering and construction major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) on Monday said its power transmission and distribution business has bagged large domestic and overseas contracts across its spectrum of offerings.
Though the company did not specify the exact value of the contracts, as per its specification a large contract ranges between Rs 2,500 crore and Rs 5,000 crore.
The Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) Business of Larsen & Toubro has secured two engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) orders to establish more than 400 MW solar photovoltaic projects in Gujarat, the company said in a statement.
L&T is one of the leading EPC players globally in the renewables space with a track record of having built some of the largest solar plants. ....

Ranchi: The state government will soon ink a memorandum of understanding with a Kerala-based apparel exporting company to provide them with workforce.
The officials of Coimbatore-based KPR Mills and the state labour department are likely to ink the MoU in the upcoming week in presence of state labour minister Satyanand Bhokta.
Under the agreement, KPR Mills aims to recruit 12,000 labourers for its expanding production lines, including a new mill in Tirupur in Erode district. Most of its labour requirement will be women. In the first phase, nearly 2,000 women will be hired.
Labour department officials said the company has agreed to pay its new workforce from Jharkhand a monthly remuneration of Rs 12,000 and take care of their food and lodging. ....

Coimbatore: An elephant was subjected to brutality at an elephant rejuvenation camp in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. A video of the same also surfaced on social media and went viral. The elephant was thrashed after it refused to respond to commands.
In the viral video, two mahouts can be seen thrashing the jumbo behind a tree. The elephant can be heard writhing in pain as the two mahouts refuse to spare it and continue thrashing it with sticks. DailyBasket, a Coimbatore-based grocery startup has responded to Tata BigBasket s cease and desist letter in a non-legal way.

According to DailyBasket, Tata Group, that recently acquired BigBasket wants the former to stop using the domain name dailybasket.com, discontinue its mobile app and stop all operations, transfer the domain name (dailybasket.com), pay Rs 2 lakh to cover the legal notice cost, and not use the domain containing the word basket in the future.

Dailybasket has chosen this route because it claims that it doesn t have the power and money BigBasket possesses and instead wants to fight them in public. ....
