Remodeling has begun on the original hospital building in North Platte, just east of the Great Plains Health West tower that opened in 2015.
The older building dates back to 1975, when it replaced two smaller hospitals at the time Memorial Hospital and St. Mary’s.
Much of the older building will now begin a new life as a neurosurgery clinic in a renovation that is budgeted to cost $6.2 million, GPH spokeswoman Megan McGown said.
Scaffolding in place for the exterior renovation, July 1.
The exterior of the 1975 hospital will be renovated to match the GPH’s newer tower to the west, which opened in 2015. The exterior work and the clinic are expected to be complete in January. ....
