Doc Wilson directs Peace Peloton, which, rain or shine, sets out to support Seattle Black-owned businesses.Â
Cyclist Reginald âDocâ Wilson arrived early at Alki Beach on June 6, 2020, followed by his partner, her children, and Bike Worksâ baby-blue mobile repair shop. He expected around 30 cyclists to join Peace Pelotonâs first Fresh Air Bike to Black Businesses event. But attendees just kept coming: families, young people, older folks, the abled and disabled. Breathe sighs of relief. Sighs of joy. Sighs of peace. Sighs of positive possibilities.
Finally.
Not everyone will, of course, and that’s okay. That’s America an America, you just recall, where we may hold disparate ideas and ideals yet share them with respect. Where we debate without denouncing or dividing. Where we ‘rassle without rancor or retaliation. (Then go get a beer.)
An America that is a far more perfect union than the traumatized disunion we dearly hope to leave behind, than the ugly cries for an uncivil war we pray fade into deaf ears.
