A former Customs Officer in Samoa has pleaded not guilty to one charge of illegal importation of drugs, namely methamphetamine.
TV1 Samoa reported the charge stems from a shipment addressed to Pueleo Sefululua Peseta which was intercepted by Customs and police officers at Apia wharf earlier this month.
The matter has been referred to the District Court.
Peseta has been bailed to reappear in court on 17 June.

Prominent local beverages company Paradise Beverages (PBF) has renewed its focus in Samoa on producing high quality local beer.
In its market announcement issued by the South Pacific Stock Exchange (SPSE), it stated that from early next year, Coca-Cola trademark beverages produced by PBF’s Samoan subsidiary (Samoa Breweries Limited) would be imported into Samoa from Fiji and New Zealand.
It stated that this would allow Samoa Breweries to focus on brewing and growing the Vailima Brand.
“Samoa Breweries will continue to distribute The Coca-Cola Company’s trademark beverages range but will be able to offer consumers a larger range of beverages, including a significantly expanded range of no sugar and low sugar beverages previously unavailable in Samoa,” the company stated.
