The Nigerian Army, on Monday, gave an update on the battle between troops of Operation Lafiya Dole deployed in Mainok, Borno State and Boko Haram/ISWAP members.
Brigadier General Mohammed Yerima, Director, Army Public Relations, said the insurgents carried out under multi-directional attacks.
“Regrettably, one gallant officer and six soldiers paid the supreme sacrifice while 5 other soldiers sustained various degrees of injuries”, his statement read.
The spokesman noted that the fighters stormed the battleground on an unconfirmed number of gun trucks and foot soldiers.
Their intent was to establish a phantom caliphate in the town, the Army added. ....

PESHAWAR: The security forces on Sunday recovered a huge cache of ammunition during intelligence based search and strike operation in Bajaur and foiled the nefarious designs of anti-state elements.
According to the district administration, the security forces acting on a tip off conducted raids in Tehsil Lowi Mamond of district Bajaur near Pak-Afghan borderand recovered huge cache of explosive material, mortar shells, hand grenades and rockets. The ammunition and explosive material was to be used for terrorism bid on the eve of Eidul Fitr, the district administration confirmed and added that it was the second successful operation by the security forces in a month. ....

Group wants name changed at Robert E. Lee High School

Some people in Duval County want the name of Robert E. Lee High School to change, calling it oppressive because the school is named after a confederate general in the Civil War. Others say the name is about of history and should not change.
On Sunday, a local group said they disagree and the school name should change. They showed their support by revving their engines.
This group also wants attention for what they call activism. They are pushing for the names of confederate soldiers who supported slavey to be removed as the names of local high schools. ....
