Griffon roller coaster evacuated at Busch Gardens Williamsburg

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. The James City County Fire Department helped over two dozen people safely get off a Busch Gardens Williamsburg roller coaster after the ride came to an unexpected stop on Tuesday evening.
A park spokesperson said 28 guests were on Griffon at the time. JCC fire and EMS crews were called in to safely evacuate the guests from the ride.
Recovery mission underway for missing boater in James River

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. Officials have shifted their search and rescue mission for a missing boater in James City County to a recovery operation.
“We have lost confidence that any additional searching on the water is going to find him,” explained Captain of the Port Sector of Virginia, Samson Stevens.
Russel Hines, 34, went missing after his boat was found aground with the engine running in the James River Monday morning. It was discovered around Governor s Land near Two Rivers Road.

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. The Coast Guard and other local agencies are searching for a boater who was reported overdue on Monday morning.
The Coast Guard says 34-year-old Russell Hines 29-foot boat was found aground with its engine running in the James River, near Gray s Creek and Williamsburg. There had been signs the boat had been recently occupied.
Coast Guard boats, along with an MH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter began to search for Hines in the area. Additionally, James City County Fire and Police, Virginia Marine Resources Commission, Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources, West Point Volunteer Fire Department, Prince George s County Fire Department, and Newport News Fire are all assisting in the search.
