New Delhi [India], May 21 (ANI): Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain on Friday said there are 197 cases of black fungus in government and private hospitals till date in the national capital.
Addressing a press conference, he said minimal steroids should be used for the treatment of Covid and only on the advice of doctors it should be administered. It is not right to use it without consulting a professional.
He said that black fungus is happening because to two reasons, first is the increase in blood sugar levels and the second is the decrease in immunity due to high usage of steroids.

The Centre must cap vaccine prices at ₹150 per dose as the current differential pricing fixed by the two Indian vaccine makers is quite exorbitant, Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain said on Thursday.
He also urged the Centre to ensure that vaccine manufacturers in India be asked to share the formula of their vaccines with all Indian manufacturers so that production of both Covaxin and Covishield can be ramped up to a large scale.
Addressing a press conference soon after his virtual interaction with Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, the Delhi Health Minister said that he had also suggested to Harsh Vardhan that the Central government should import vaccines from abroad rather than forcing States to compete/fight with each other in international markets individually.

On Monday night, Delhi reported around 12,600 new Covid cases in the previous 24 hours.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday urged the centre to share COVID-19 vaccine formulas and allow more companies to manufacture doses - of which there is an acute shortage as the Serum Institute and Bharat Biotech scramble to match demand.
At present, India has two vaccines and only two companies making them - Covishield (by the Serum Institute) and Covaxin (by Bharat Biotech) - and both have struggled to raise output. A third - Russia s Sputnik V - has been cleared but not yet rolled out; this will be produced by five companies.

New Delhi [India], May 11 (ANI): Delhi Health Minister, Satyendar Jain on Tuesday informed that the extended facility of Guru Tech Bahadur (GTB) hospital will be operational from Wednesday. Due to some unavoidable technical glitches, extended facility of the GTB hospital will be operational from tomorrow. Team GTB is working day and night to ensure health care services are available to Delhiites , tweeted Jain.
Over the last few days, the COVID-19 positivity rate in the national capital has declined from 36 per cent to 19 per cent, informed health minister Satyendar Jain on Tuesday, adding that the caseload has dropped to 12,500.
