Maverick Party's northeast B.C. candidate hosting town halls | Energeticcity.ca


According to Jeffers’ Facebook page, the meeting will allow residents to learn more about the party’s platform and how western Canada will be represented in parliament.
The following week, Jeffers will be in Pouce Coupe, Dawson Creek, Farmington, Doe River and Toms Lake. Dates have yet to be confirmed.
Jeffers was announced as a candidate in March by Jay Hill, the Maverick Party’s Interim Leader.
The party describes Jeffers as a local businessman with a vast career with science-based companies working to improve all aspects of responsible resource development.
The Maverick Party was launched in September 2020, formerly known as Wexit, to represent the best interests of Western Canadians. ....

Retroville will play at Covered Bridge Jam on Saturday night


ELIZABETHTON — The weekly free concerts at the Covered Bridge Park on the banks of the Doe River in downtown Elizabethton will continue on Saturday, July 24, when the band Retroville takes the stage at 7 p.m.
“We are expecting a large crowd to come out and enjoy this energetic group,” David Nanney, Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department recreation manager, said.
Retroville formed in 2004 and has been going strong ever since. One of the unique things about the band is that it covers so many different musical styles. At most performances, they will cover material from the 1950s to the 1990s. The band’s main focus is the 1970s and 1980s. ....

July 19, 1867: The East Tennessee Union Flag reported, “The weather for the past two weeks has been hot and dry. Gardens parched up, and the corn blades are twisted into rolls. Every body (sic) complaining of the sweltering heat. A good rain would be gratefully received by all, and make thousands of bushels of corn in our valley.”
The East Tennessee Union Flag was a newspaper published in Jonesborough, which was spelled that way, as well as being spelled Jonesboro in 1867.
