NEW DELHI: Leading direct-to-home (DTH) player Tata Sky on Wednesday said the government s decision to grant licences to the operators for a longer 20 years would provide certainty to the industry.

New Delhi: From 1 January 2021 onwards, several rules are going to change, that includes implementation of Positive Pay system for cheque payments, mandatory FASTags for all four-wheelers across India, new mode of Goods and Services Tax (GST) return filing facility for small businesses, increased contactless card transaction limit and more.

5G kept out of the offer as Cabinet okays telecom spectrum auction


The Centre on Wednesday set the ball rolling for 4G auction that is expected to fetch the exchequer Rs 3.92 trillion by offering 2,251 megahertz (MHz) airwaves. The coveted 5G spectrum has been kept out of the offer.
The auctions are slated to be held in March 2021 and the notice inviting applications is expected by the end of this month. The last spectrum auctions were held in October 2016 and the government earned Rs 65,789 crore from them.
While briefing mediapersons on the outcome of the Cabinet meet, telecom and IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, “It has been decided by the Cabinet to auction 2,251 MHz spectrum by March 2021.” ....

Reliance Jio tops 4G download speed in Nov 2020; Vodafone leads in upload speed: Trai
Jio recorded more than double the download speed of its closest competitor Vodafone

Reliance Jio topped the 4G speed chart with data download rate of 20.8 megabit per second (Mbps), while Vodafone was ahead of others in upload speed at 6.5 Mbps in November, according to the latest data update of telecom regulator Trai. Jio recorded more than double the download speed of its closest competitor Vodafone.
Though, Vodafone and Idea Cellular have merged their mobile business as Vodafone Idea Limited, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) is still releasing separate network speed data of both the entities. ....
