Alaska renters can soon apply for up to 12 months of rent and utility assistance as millions in federal pandemic relief money becomes available.
The Municipality of Anchorage, Cook Inlet Housing Authority and Alaska Housing Finance Corp. separately received a total of more than $200 million in federal relief money for rental assistance. Together they’re working to create one streamlined application process for renters who need help, according to an announcement from the municipality.
The program, Alaska Housing Rent Relief, offers up to 12 months of financial assistance to pay rent and/or utilities, and the assistance can be extended for an additional three months. ....

Durban s Mobeni Heights crematorium started operating on Monday after years of battling dysfunctional furnaces which left the community outraged.
On Monday, eThekwini municipality announced that three bodies had been cremated at it s facility in Chatsworth, south of Durban.
“The state-of-the-art furnace was imported from a manufacturer in the US last year and underwent several tests to ensure effectiveness and compliance with protocols governing operation of these establishments,” said municipal spokesperson Msawakhe Mayisela. ....

Doha: Al Shamal Municipality represented by the Health Monitoring Section recorded 55 violations at food outlets during inspection campaigns held during 2020.
The municipal inspectors made 7,547 inspection visits to food outlets implementing the provisions of the Law No. 8 of 1990 for regulating foods during the period of study, said the Ministry of Municipality and Environment in a statement.
The Municipality issued decision to shut down six erring food outlets. However, reconciliations were made in 24 cases of violations.
The inspectors of Health Monitoring Section intensified inspection campaign on Al Shamal Slaughterhouse, Fish Market of Al Ruwais Port and Al Ruwais Market and shops for selling live and slaughtered chickens. ....
