Lancelot apartment outbreak increases to 24 positive tests

The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit confirmed 24 individuals have now tested positive for COVID-19 as a result of an outbreak at Skyline Lancelot Apartments on Lakeshore Drive, of which 18 have received a preliminary result for a variant of concern.
A statement Thursday from the health unit also confirmed 19 of the individuals who have tested positive live in the apartment building.

With its April deadline quickly approaching, Ontario’s commission investigating COVID in long-term care homes is “in a rush” to finish its full report, a person with knowledge of the investigation told iPolitics.
The commission is crunched for time because thousands of pages of records requested by investigators from the government were slow-walked, the commission said in a Dec. 9 letter to the Ministry of Long-Term Care. In that letter, the commission sought an extension from the government because of the delay obtaining records, which turned its request down, but pledged to fulfill outstanding record requests. ....

Ontario gov't ministers to appear before LTC commission in coming weeks

Ontario’s minister of health and minister of long-term care will appear before a commission examining how COVID-19 spread in the province’s long-term care system.
The offices for both Health Minister Christine Elliott and Long-term Care Minister Merrilee Fullerton confirmed on Monday they will be interviewed by the commission in the coming weeks.
