The Pfizer vaccine arrived at Methodist Dallas Medical Center early Monday morning.
The first doses of a COVID-19 vaccine began arriving arriving throughout the U.S. on Monday including in Texas, with health care workers first in line to receive the shots.
The Texas Department of State Health Services said 19,500 doses of the vaccine were headed Monday to four sites in Texas: MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Methodist Dallas Medical Center, Wellness 360 at UT Health San Antonio and UT Health Austin s Dell Medical School.

Health care workers on the frontlines in Houston and across the country are starting to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
HOUSTON - More doses of the COVID-19 vaccine are arriving in Houston on Tuesday.
State health officials say 75,075 doses will be arriving at 19 sites in Texas on Tuesday, including seven Houston-area hospitals.
In Houston, Texas Children’s Hospital, LBJ Hospital, CHI St. Luke’s Health, Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center, Houston Methodist Hospital, and Ben Taub General Hospital were scheduled to receive shipments. The University of Texas Medical Branch Hospital in Galveston was also set to receive doses. ....

It was an historic day at Houston hospitals as the first healthcare workers received the COVID-19 vaccine.
COVID-19 ICU nurse Robert Luckey was the first to receive the Pfizer vaccine at Memorial Hermann Hospital. He was also the first person in Houston to get the vaccine.
Luckey s vaccination was met with much fanfare, the room erupting in applause.
Visibly emotional, even while wearing a mask, Luckey said this has been both a rewarding and trying time.
It s a big moment because so many people have been touched by the virus, the disease. So I think this will bring hope for a lot of people, Luckey said. ....

Currently, the primary treatment for patients who become bacteremic because of the central lines being infected is to treat the patient aggressively with culture-directed antibiotics and to remove the central line which is believed to be the source of the infection and replaced when the patient s status improves.
