UNDP backs Pindi’s urban regeneration plan
PC-I of scheme says Rs73m required for the project
RAWALPINDI:
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has joined hands with the Rawalpindi Metropolitan Corporation (RMC) to revamp the old city area of the garrison city.
RMC in collaboration with UNDP has prepared the project concept (PC-I) for the urban regeneration project of historic areas of Rawalpindi.
According to the PC-I seen by The Express Tribune, the project to uplift ancient areas of Rawalpindi including Sarafa Bazaar and Bohar Bazaar will cost Rs73.10 million.
Under the project, all utility cables would be moved underground and all poles would be removed to give the area a clean look. An end to the mesh of wires and cables will enhance the actual colonial aura of these 250 years old localities, officials said. ....

Regulator renews PTCL licence for 25 years

Licence binds company to improve consumer protection, helpline services
ISLAMABAD:
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has formally approved the renewal of Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited’s (PTCL) licence for the next 25 years, which will take effect from January 1, 2021.
The government had issued the licence to PTCL on January 1, 1997 for 25 years up to December 31, 2020.
The licence is technology neutral and will allow PTCL to provide all state-of-the-art telecom services under the renewed licence except mobile services across the country in 14 telecom regions.
In a bid to enhance the quality of services (QoS) parameters, the renewed licence entails conditions which include 5% annual increase in Next Generation Access Network connections and QoS parameters as per international standards. ....
