BRUNSWICK Mid Coast Hospital will open a vaccination clinic at Brunswick Landing the site of the former Brunswick Naval Air Station Monday. The hospital will administer COVID-19 vaccinations to those 70 and older by appointment only.
The clinic will administer more than 800 vaccines a day, six days a week, reaching about 75,000 people by the end of July, Mid Coast-Parkview Health President Lois Skillings told the Brunswick Town Council Tuesday. ....

All owls are inherently mysterious to us humans for any number of reasons. We don’t see even the most common species very often, and sometimes our only experience with them is hearing their calls far away in the dark woods. Barred owls are actually relatively common in our area. But how often do you really get to see one? A few winters ago, when snow and ice conditions apparently made it tough for barred owls to find food, the birds began coming out in the daylight to hunt, resulting in a spate of close sightings that made the news. We wrote about it in this column. ....

Nearby Solar Array Will Supply Bowdoin with Lots of Maine-Made Power
The 17,000-panel solar field on Bowdoin land
in Brunswick will push the College past its goal of purchasing 100 percent of its electricity from Maine-based renewable sources.
Sol Systems, based in Washington, DC, will finance the solar project and be the owner and operator. Bowdoin is supplying a 19.5-acre parcel on the former Navy base for the array and will be the sole buyer, or off-taker, of the electricity. The College will also retain the renewable energy credits (RECs) that come with the creation of green energy.
With the new Sol Systems project and Bowdoin s participation in other renewable-energy ventures around the state including a consortium to support thirty-three statewide renewable energy projects and a 75-megawatt solar project in Farmington the College is on track to use only renewable energy generated in Maine by the end of 2021. ....
