Nevada Highway Patrol investigates fatal Fallon crash


The NHP said Monday the crash occurred at about 7:16 p.m. and involved two pedestrians.
According to the NHP, a preliminary investigation stated a white 1996 Ford pickup towing a flatbed trailer was westbound in the left lane on Williams Avenue approaching the intersection of Whitaker Lane. Two pedestrians entered the crosswalk to walk south toward Whitaker Lane. The NHP said the pickup entered the intersection against the red traffic signal and struck the pedestrians. One of the pedestrians, Anita Assam, 80, of Palm Desert, Calif., died at the scene.
This crash is being investigated by the NHP’s Northern Command West Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team (M.I.R.T.) NHP Case #210400658. ....

NEW HAVEN A man struck by a tow truck while walking on Ella T. Grasso Boulevard early Thursday later died of his injuries, according to police.
Capt. Anthony Duff said via email that the man was struck by a tow truck on the boulevard at its intersection with Lamberton Street.
“The tow truck driver remained at the scene. An ambulance transported the adult male victim to Yale New Haven Hospital where he was pronounced deceased,” Duff said. “The crash remains under investigation by the NHPD Accident Reconstruction Team.” ....
