Governor Yahaya Bello has flagged off the Special Public Work Programme initiated by President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government in Kogi State.
Bello while speaking at the flagging off ceremony on Saturday praised President Buhari for its decision to introduce the Project for 774,000 Nigerians across the federation.
He said the decision to introduce the programme was to make ordinary Nigerians feel government impact in every little way.
While charging the 21, 000 beneficiaries in the state to take advantage of the opportunity afforded them by the programme by improving themselves through skills acquisition to be self sufficient and self reliant, Bello noted that his administration was passionate about the same thing, restating his commitment to support the President in any way that would make life meaningful for the people of the country.

President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday said beneficiaries of the 774,000 extended Public Work Programme of the federal government will become self-employed and employers of labour after period of three months the programme will last.
He stated this in Abakaliki, Ebonyi state capital during the flag-off of the programme for the state with the state National Directorate of Employment (NDE) as the supervisory agency.
Buhari who was represented by Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, called on private sector to show interest in employing the participants after they have acquired additional knowledge and skills in the process of implementing the programme.
