A tree from the North Coast of California will serve as the NEXT official U.S. Capitol Christmas tree.
The Six Rivers National Forest, based in Eureka, has been chosen to provide the tree, which will be placed on the west lawn of the Capitol in early December.
It’s the first time a tree from the Six Rivers forest has been selected, and the fifth time the Capitol Christmas tree has come from California. ....

Ambassador of Bangladesh to Qatar, H E Md. Jashim Uddin, participated in a tree plantation event organised by the Public Parks Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment under ‘Plant Million Tree’ initiative.
The event was also attended by Director of Al Wakra Municipality, Ajran Al Buainain; Head of Parks Section at Al Wakra Municipality, Omar Mohamad Al Jaber, and a number of officials from the municipality. Md. Jashim Uddin planted trees with other officials during the event.
The Public Parks Department called on entities, institutions and members of the community to make their contribution in the initiative by planting trees. ....

I am compelled to acknowledge the many Ridgefield groups who have united in the challenge of teaching music in our district during COVID-19 this past year, in the face of so many hurdles that could have disrupted learning far more had they not thought outside the box.
Specifically, I want to point out the wonderful collaboration of the Ridgefield public schools music programs and teachers, as well as Ridgefield Music Matters - with the student-created Ridgefield Music Mentors program.
The RMM tutoring program was the brainchild of several students even before COVID began. As teachers and students were struggling last spring with the disruption to learning that is almost always in-person and hands-on, it was clear that this interruption in music would be detrimental to RPS students. ....

Wood finishes work on Shell's Middle Eastern solar plant

Wood, the global consulting and engineering company, recently completed its role as owner’s engineer on Oman Shell’s first utility-scale, photovoltaic (PV) solar project in the Middle East, designed to cut emissions from industrial activities.
The development will supply renewable electricity to a large ferrochrome production facility, displacing the equivalent gas-fired power generation taken from the grid and saving more than 25 000 tpy of CO
2 emissions. The 25 MWp Qabas Solar Plant, consisting of more than 80 000 solar panels, is located within the Sohar Freezone in northern Oman.
The landmark project is focused on improving the utilisation, energy efficiency, and carbon intensity of energy production operations, accelerating solar energy development in The Sultanate of Oman, and helping to meet growing demand for cleaner, more sustainable energy. ....

March 10, 2021LITCHFIELD The Prospect Mountain girls basketball team found itself down by 10 points early in the second quarter in Sunday s Division III quarterfinal tilt at Campbell.
And, the Timber Wolves also found themselves down by 11 early in the fourth quarter.
But both times, the Prospect girls rallied, cutting the gap to one possession both times, but they never quite got over the hump, dropping a 40-35 decision to the Cougars.
We didn t take enough outside shots in the long run, said coach Rick Burley. We told them we had to shoot more. ....
