EAST ELLIJAY, Ga. – After last months approvals for administration in the schools, the Board of Education returned to finalize school personnel for the coming 2021-22 school year during the BOE meeting near the end of February.
During the meeting the board individually voted for five staff members individually, each board member abstained from one vote on the five due to being a relative. After this, the board voted for each school individually for their staff as recommended by the school’s Principal including Clear Creek Elementary School, Ellijay Elementary School, Mountain View Elementary, Clear Creek Middle School, and Gilmer High School. ....

No property tax increase in larger Albemarle 2022 budget proposal

CHARLOTTESVILLE (WINA) – County Executive Jeff Richardson is proposing a 2022 fiscal budget of just over $466-million, more than 17% more than the current year… and it’s happening without any property tax increases. Presenting the plan in a Wednesday Zoom meeting to Albemarle supervisors, Richardson says “the economic environment that pertains to this budget is stabilizing, but not yet stable, with a modest performance outlook through FY 22 which starts July 1 of this year through June 30, 2022. This year, Albemarle County is running on a $396-million budget that took a big cut last year as we entered the pandemic.
Richardson says he and staff have kept in mind what supervisors have been asking throughout the pandemic… let’s be careful when we’re cautious and not stop everything. B.C. records additional 508 Coronavirus cases, six new deaths


COVID-19 cases in B.C. still remain high.
In an on-camera briefing this afternoon (Feb. 19), Deputy Provincial Health Officer Dr. Reka Gustafson said another 508 COVID-19 cases were recorded in the past 24 hours for a grand provincial total of 75,835.
Of those, Northern Health detected 25 new infections for an updated authority total of 4,252.

Officials announced another six deaths today, which brings the province s toll to 1,327.
