Negative Covid report must for people travelling to Rajasthan from 4 states

The Rajasthan government on Friday made it mandatory for people coming from Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat to furnish a COVID-19 negative report on arrival in the state.
The decision was taken at a high-level meeting of the Rajasthan government to review the coronavirus situation in the state. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot chaired the meeting.
A COVID-19 negative report from an RT-PCR test taken up to 72 hours prior to entering Rajasthan is mandatory for people coming from Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat, an official statement said.
The decision was taken in view of an uptick in the number of coronavirus infections in the neighbouring states. ....

Air quality 'poor' in Ghaziabad, Noida; moderate in Faridabad, Gurgaon

The air quality was recorded in the poor category in Ghaziabad and Greater Noida and in the moderate zone in Noida, Faridabad and Gurgaon, according to data issued by a government agency on Saturday.
Pollutants PM 2.5 and PM 10 also remained high in the air of the five immediate neighbours of Delhi, according to the air quality index (AQI) maintained by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
According to the index, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered good , 51 and 100 satisfactory , 101 and 200 moderate , 201 and 300 poor , 301 and 400 very poor , and 401 and 500 severe .
The average 24-hour AQI at 4pmon Saturday was 213 in Ghaziabad, 204 in Greater Noida, 182 in Noida,169 in Faridabad and 177 in Gurgaon, according to CPCB s Sameer app. ....

Jailed activist Akhil Gogoi to contest Assam election from Sibsagar

Jailed activist Akhil Gogoi will contest the upcoming elections in Assam from Sibsagar as a candidate of his newly-floated Raijor Dal.
Announcing the list of 17 candidates that the party fielded in the first two phases, Raijor Dal working president Bhasco De Saikia said that Gogoi, the party s president, will contest from the Sibsagar constituency in Upper Assam.
In the first phase, the party will contest in 12 seats but is yet to announce the candidate for one seat, and in the second phase, it has put up candidates in six constituencies.

IPL 2021 likely to start from April 9; Final on May 30: Report

The 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is likely to be played from April 9 to May 30 subject to the approval of the Governing Council (GC). In another development, while the date of the all-important GC meeting to decide on the venues for the 14th edition of the league is yet to be finalised, it is most likely to be held next week.
Speaking to ANI, a GC member on condition of anonymity said while the final approval will be given in the GC meeting, the league is expected to start on April 9 and a call on the venues will be taken next week. ....
