PMLN lawmaker demands end to electricity load shedding in KP

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) provincial spokesman and Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Ikhtiar Wali Khan has demanded an end to the unprecedented electricity load-shedding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In an open letter to Federal Minister for Energy and Power, Ikhtiar Wali said that the consumers in KP, especially in Peshawar, Nowshera, Mardan and Swabi districts, have been facing 16 to 17 hours power outages daily.
He said that sometimes electricity remains cut off for a whole night or day, besides routine load-shedding, putting the consumers in mental torture, especially the aged people, women and children. ....

The recently issued report of the Economic Survey of Pakistan 2021 has highlighted the federal and provincial governments’ efforts to fight the coronavirus pandemic as well as the steps taken by the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) to help treat cancer patients.
The survey report said the PAEC has given high priority to the application of nuclear technology in the health sector, especially utilizing radiotherapy in the treatment of cancer.
It said the PAEC established its first nuclear medical center at Karachi s Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) and now there are 18 operational Atomic Energy Cancer Hospitals (AECHs) dedicated to serving poor cancer patients not only in cities but also in areas like DI Khan, Swat and Nawabshah. ....

Guidelines issued to save medics from Delta variant of Covid - Newspaper

PESHAWAR: One person died and 158 more Covid-19 patients were detected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday as government issued new guidelines to health workers to get vaccinated and remain in home in case of sickness to stay safe from Delta variant in the fourth wave of the pandemic.
According to Covid-19 situation report of health department, the provincial tally of infections has reached 144,818 of which 134,144 (95 per cent), including 100 recorded during the last 24 hours, have already recovered.
So far, 4,386 people including 62 per cent male and 38 per cent female have passed away of the infection while the tally of active patients is 2,288. The active cases include 907 in Peshawar, 237 in Nowshera, 200 in Abbottabad, 95 in Mardan, 87 in Swabi and 78 in Dir Lower while other districts have fewer cases. ....
