Armed suspect leads deputies on car chase before barricading in home

A 24-year-old man was arrested Wednesday after leading law enforcement on a car chase before barricading himself in a home while armed with a gun. The chain of events began around 12:38 p.m. when deputies with the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office noticed a car with unregistered plates weaving through traffic about 80 mph in the 5500 block of West Hampton Avenue on Milwaukee’s north side, according to a sheriff’s office news release. Before initiating a traffic stop, deputies pulled alongside the car at a traffic light and saw the driver waving a semi-automatic handgun around, the release said. After deputies activated emergency lights and sirens, the suspect vehicle stopped in the 6000 block of West Mill Road but took off before deputies could approach the car.

Burl Co Man Charged With Attempted Murder of Elderly Roommate

Authorities in Burlington County say a man has been charged with attempted murder after severely beating his elderly roommate at the care facility where they both live. Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina and Maple Shade Police Chief Christopher J. Fletcher say 51-year-old David P. Lake lived at The Palace Rehabilitation and Care Center in the 300 block of West Mill Road in Maple Shade. Coffina s office says, The investigation began after Maple Shade police and the Maple Shade First Aid Squad were dispatched to the facility on the morning of January 17 on a report of an assault. The investigation revealed that Lake had attacked his 78-year-old roommate, who is immobile and non-verbal, while the victim was in his bed in their room.
