App launches to help businesses increase cyber security

A CLOUD cyber security app which can check data breaches within 24 hours rather than the norm of several months, has gone from two entrepreneurs’ germ of an idea to a company employing eight people in six months.
Newcastle-based Melius Cyber’s co-founder and director Eldon Jobe, believes his company’s service of continuous monitoring of internet data breaches via the app will be particularly beneficial to SME’s who do not always have the technical ability to block or defend against cyber attacks.

Government funding clawback could cost colleges six-figure sums

COLLEGE leaders cross the region have joined calls urging the government to reconsider a funding ‘clawback’ that could force a reduction in adult education courses.
The government has announced it will revoke adult education funding from colleges if they do not hit a 90 per cent delivery target for 2020/21.
Due to the disruption caused by Covid, the Association of Colleges estimate that average college delivery is likely to fall between 75 per cent and 85 per cent.
As a result, the government could clawback between £68m and £22m, which could represent six figure totals of revoked funding for individual colleges. ....
