Creasey Park's new artificial turf pitch in Dunstable is ready for action


The investment will ensure that the whole community has the use of a top-class sporting facility

Creasey Park Community Football Centre has opened a new full-size artificial turf pitch (ATP) after investing £1.1m of funding from the Housing Infrastructure Fund. The installation was initiated and managed by Central Bedfordshire Council in partnership with Dunstable Town Council.
The new pitch has been built primarily for activities such as football and hockey. It is also in the process of becoming fully FIFA (Federation of International Football Association) and FIH (International Hockey Federation) accredited. The new pitch is the latest in third generation design and features a new Intelligent Play System as well as environmental improvements such as LED floodlights. ....

Hamilton City Council has a new General Manager Growth as the city continues its sustained population and economic growth.
Blair Bowcott will take up the position at the end of May, replacing Jen Baird who has a new role as Chief Executive of the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand (REINZ).
Council’s Chief Executive Richard Briggs said Mr Bowcott has been an integral part of Council for the past 22 years and the senior leadership team since 2007, championing Hamilton’s interests at a local, regional, and national level.
“Blair has been a driving force behind some of Hamilton’s significant growth programmes including securing funding for Peacocke through the Housing Infrastructure Fund and shovel-ready projects pitch during COVID-19 lockdown last year. He has built strong relationships with Government on behalf of the city. ....

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has poured cold water on National s proposal to give councils a $50,000 grant for every new house they consent above their five-year average. 
The idea is proposed in a Member s Bill put forward by National leader Judith Collins, designed as an alternative way for the Government to spend its $3.8 billion Housing Acceleration Fund announced last month. 
Housing Minister Megan Woods said after talks with local councils, it was clear investment in critical but costly infrastructure - such as roads and pipes - was seriously lacking, and no one had been prepared to step in and fill the expensive gap.  ....
