Immigration bureau on alert for passenger influx during Holy Week

BI cancels leaves of personnel during Lenten season

MANILA - Immigration officers assigned at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and other major airports are not allowed to go on leave during and after the Holy Week to ensure adequate personnel to serve the traveling public during the Lenten season. In a memorandum Thursday, BI port operations division chief Carlos Capulong said no applications for vacation leave from April 7 until April 15 will be approved. Likewise, no applications for authority to travel abroad by any BI employee assigned at the airports will be entertained. Capulong said the directive, which was affirmed by Commissioner Jaime Morente, was issued in anticipation of the influx and exodus of large numbers of international travelers that usually happen during the Lenten season.
