Around 7:00 AM on Wednesday along 18 Mile Rd NW near Sparta Ave., a black sedan veered off the roadway and rolled several times.  When Kent City firefighters arrived they located the driver who was ejected from the vehicle.   *Crash scene photo provided by Kent County Sheriff's Office   A 58-year-old Fremont woman was the only occupant and was pronounced deceased. The KCSO Traffic Safety Unit is investigating the crash and initial information finds alcohol may be a contributing factor.

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will be investing $229,000 to patch and epoxy seal the deck of the US-131 bridges over 50 Mile Road in Wexford County. The anticipated start date of the project is Monday, July 31, and will last likely for a full month until Thursday, August 31. Drivers should expect lane closures and traffic shifts. One lane will remain open in each direction. This work will improve the driving surface of the bridges and extend their service life.
