That may lure people into its other on-line services, like bing. so that seems to be the figuring behind this. some people saying it may also fold skype into its xbox 360 and so on. but really it s just getting 660 million people to kickstart what has been a dismal effort so far in its on-line operations. is $8 billion a good deal? it certainly doesn t look like it. you do the numbers. two years ago, skype was valued at $2.75 billion. we know this because ebay actually sold 70% of skype then. and ebay had bought it only two years before that for about $2.5 billion and written down the value of skype. it sold at 70% or so at which value the company i said $2.75. two years later looking at $8 billion, $8.5 billion if you look at the debt skype has. ....
