Ericsson said in its latest update of the Mobility Report released Tuesday that around 260 telecom operators have launched commercial 5G services while around 35 telcos have deployed or launched their 5G standalone (SA) networks.
Ericsson projects 5G mobile subscriptions will reach 1.5 billion globally by year-end, even with geopolitical and macro-economic challenges.
According to the report, a 10 per cent increase in mobile adoption increases GDP by 1 per cent and that rises to approximately 15 per cent when connections are upgraded from one mobile network to another.
