Chatham Officer Shoots Suspect; State Police Investigating
By WMAY Newsroom Chatham IL police department logo Illinois State Police have been called in to investigate an incident in which an armed suspect was shot by a Chatham police officer. Police were called to a home on East Walnut in Chatham Friday afternoon and found a man with a knife outside the residence attempting to harm himself. As an officer tried to talk to the man, police say the suspect lunged at the officer with the knife, so the officer shot him. The suspect was taken to the hospital in stable condition. No officers were hurt.
