Republican Paul Schimpf will tour the state starting Monday, announcing his plans to challenge Democratic incumbent JB Pritzker. Schimpf spent four years as a state senator from Southern Illinois, but opted not to run for re-election last year. He also ran for Illinois Attorney General in 2014, but only got 38-percent of the vote in his loss to Democrat Lisa Madigan.
