C. Luzon public hearings on wage hike petition start April 20

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga - The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) in Central Luzon will start a series of public hearings on the wage hike petition filed by the Solidarity of Unions in the Philippines for Empowerment and Reforms (SUPER). Geraldine Panlilio, regional director of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and RTWPB chairperson, confirmed Monday that workers, employers, and other concerned sectors in the region may attend the hearing and present their positions on the wage increase. The first hearing will be held at Orchid Gardens Hotel along Lazatin Boulevard here on April 20. Other scheduled public hearings will be in Bulacan (April 22), Bataan (April 26), Zambales (April 27), Aurora (May 5), Tarlac (May 11), and Nueva Ecija (May 12). Based on the rules of minimum wage fixing, a public hearing is necessary for any petition to adjust the minimum wage.
