Dixie State student, others start RISE, a new St. George youth center
Brandon Turner is a Dixie State University graduate and a youth mentor, but his life could have been very different. The Los Angeles native said he wasn't a bad kid growing up, but gangs, drugs and violence were part of his surroundings, and he saw how easy it was for kids to get off track. He credits football and a youth mentorship program for helping him stay focused. "I believe (these programs) actually turned me (into) a great man," Turner said.
