Parents of three fishermen, who were arrested in Mumbai after being found sailing on a Kuwait-registered fishing vessel on February 6, said their sons were tortured, starved and pushed to the brink, forcing them to escape on their employer’s boat.
Three Tamil Nadu residents were arrested by Colaba police for sailing from Kuwait to Mumbai in a fishing boat to escape their employer. They entered Indian shores without passport or any licence. The police are investigating their route and any potential crimes committed. The boat belongs to a Kuwaiti national and has been examined by the bomb detection and disposal squad team.
Allegedly ill-treated by their agent, the trio set sail on a fishing boat of their master without permission to escape from the Gulf country and entered the Indian territory illegally, he said.
