The Automation Arena is set to return to Labelexpo Europe this year, showcasing the tremendous leap forward in capabilities since the last automation feature at Labelexpo Americas back in 2018. The 2018 automation arena concentrated on what I would call ‘linear’ automation – setting up machinery remotely from a centralized workstation. As was demonstrated at the time, there is a lot of information that can be transferred to presses and converting equipment via JDF/JMF to reduce or eliminate manual intervention during machine setup.

Siegwerk, a global provider of printing inks and coatings for packaging applications and labels, has received an honorable mention in the Flexographic Technical Association (FTA) sustainability excellence awards. The awards are given to companies who demonstrate a commitment to and pursuit of sustainable package printing.

Fedrigoni Group, a manufacturer of specialty papers and self-adhesive labels, has launched Sheets Exclusive Collection. The sheet has a complete range that includes precious coated, natural, colored, felt-marked and embossed papers, all in self-adhesive and FSC certified versions.  

Litograf, a printing company in Slovakia, has bought Lemorau Mebr+ machine.  The machine was developed in 330mm (about 1.08 ft) web, and the customer chose to add, as optional features, hot foil stamping with embossing drawer, air trim removal, easy strip waste rewinder and QRC software (quick remote connection). 

Minnesota based label converter Meyers has published a new eBook ‘Sustainable Packaging for Millennial and Gen Z Shoppers – A Guide for CPG Brands’. The new eBook represents an expansion of the company’s dedication to leading the industry in sustainability, encompassing the process of product creation as well as business operations.  Its objective is to aid CPG brands in engaging with younger shoppers from the Gen Z and Millennial generations.
