Ambulance service prevents babies being born on roads
In August 2010, Karachi made headlines. A baby was delivered in an auto rickshaw because the mother couldn’t reach hospital on time due to the unrest in the city. One decade later, some babies, apparently in a haste, are still being born on the way to hospitals, but no longer in rickshaws. These babies are being delivered by trained paramedics in ambulances. Since 2009, at least 189 babies were born in ambulances in Karachi. In the same period, another 329 have been born on the way to hospitals in Hyderabad, Thatta and Sujawal.
