Abiron Begum Ansar was beaten to death by her employers in Riyadh Ansar s family said her body was unrecognisable when it was repatriated back to Bangladesh seven months after her murder (Supplied) By Published date: 15 February 2021 13:45 UTC | Last update: 1 month 1 week ago A criminal court in Riyadh on Sunday handed a Saudi national the death penalty for the murder of a Bangladeshi domestic worker, in a rare trial exposing the abuse of migrant workers in the kingdom.  Abiron Begum Ansar, a 40-year-old domestic worker, was found dead in Riyadh in March 2019 after being beaten to death by her employers.  Her family said Ansar s body was  unrecognisable when it was repatriated back to Bangladesh seven months later.

Abiron’s Death in KSA: Family demands justice, rejects settlement A Saudi court has rejected the bail petitions of three accused arrested in a case filed for the murder of a Bangladeshi domestic worker in Saudi Arabia two years ago. Abiron Begum Ansar, who went to Saudi Arabia in 2017, was tortured allegedly at her employer s house and killed on March 24, 2019. Her body was kept in a mortuary there for seven months before arrival in the country. During a hearing on Wednesday, the Criminal Court-6 in Riyadh asked the accused to submit a written reply in this regard. The family of Abiron, through their representatives, told the court that they wanted Qisas or similar punishment if her murder was proven in court.
