Those looking to enter the healthcare field can begin their journey through a variety of programs at Nicola Valley Institute of Technology (NVIT), BC’s premier indigenous post-secondary institute.
“We have three programs running,” explained Ivy McRae, HCA Program Coordinator.
“We have the Access to Practical Nursing which is a bridging program into Practical Nursing; we have a healthcare aide program we are offering in the fall, and right now we have the HCAP program, which is the Healthcare Access Pathway, and that one is in partnership with Interior Health.”
The Healthcare Access Pathway (HCAP) saw 18 students enrolled on May 3, and NVIT plans to launch a second HCAP program June 7. ....
