His family said this was in keeping with the express wishes of the artist and poet. In a release, Clarke’s daughter Adaeze Clarke said, “Dad s health had been on the decline for some time and we put all our focus into ensuring he was cared for in the best way possible. A media release from Nalis quotes Clarke as saying the collection “is a dedication to the Haitian people…whose courage is unassailable in the struggle to preserve humanity in fulfilling their destiny.” At the opening of the exhibition last month, Neil Parsanlal, chairman of the board of Nalis, said the drawings should jolt people out of the pandemic of apathy.for which no vaccine other than determined action can cure. ....
