Baba Ijesha, Nollywood actor, could be sentenced to life imprisonment upon conviction as the Lagos government moves to charge him for
sexual assault by penetration and defilement of a child, among others.

In a statement on Tuesday, Moyosore Onigbanjo, the state commissioner for justice, said the state’s directorate of public prosecutions has recommended five charges against Baba Ijesha “after due consideration of the facts in the case file.”
According to Onigbanjo, who doubles as the state attorney-general, the state will file charges of sexual assault by penetration (which is punishable by life imprisonment); indecent treatment of a child (punishable by 7 years imprisonment); and defilement of a child (which is also punishable by life imprisonment), among others against the movie star.

Baba Ijesha, real name James Olanrewaju faces a possible life imprisonment for the alleged sexual assault he was arrested for.
Police spokesman, Muyuwa Adejobi said the case was reported on April 19 by Princess Adekola Adekanya at Sabo Police Station.
The Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu ordered the transfer of the matter to the Gender Unit of the State CID, Panti, Yaba, Lagos for investigation.
Baba Ijesha, 48, allegedly first assaulted the victim when she was 7 years old. The girl is now aged 14.
On Tuesday, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice Moyosore Onigbanjo provided an update on the case.

The Kaduna State Government confirmed the development on Tuesday.
The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan, said security agencies reported that bandits invaded Mazari, a community close to Buruku in Chikun LGA.
According to him, one person was killed in the attack and three others injured.
He added that in another incident, bandits attacked Doka village, Kajuru LGA, killed one person and injured three others.
